Lives and works in Berlin
Marc Khafre is a Berlin-based artist whose practice reinterprets textile craftsmanship through a contemporary lens, transforming discarded fabrics into intricate compositions. His work bridges textile reclamation and artisanal techniques, engaging deeply with the historical and cultural narratives embedded in up-cycled fabrics. Through meticulous processes such as deconstructing, hand-stitching and weaving, Marc repurposes remnants like packaging ribbons, fabric swatches and dust bags from the fashion industry into works that transcend their origins. By doing so, he challenges the conventions of textile art, expanding the discourse on sustainability and materiality in contemporary art.
Marc's artistic trajectory has included projects published in Berlin and London. His most recent open studio presentation, WASTED (2024), showcased his evolving engagement with up-cycled textiles. In addition to his independent artistic practice, he has contributed to the visual identity and interior design of WARDROBE AFFAIRE (2023) and launched EARTH HEART (2018), a charity project in honor of Earth Day advocating to end plastic pollution, underscoring his longstanding interest in the environmental impact of waste.
A recipient of the Circular Together grant from Impact Hub Berlin (2022), Marc's work aligns with contemporary dialogues on sustainability and circular design.
